ECONYL® – The yarns

Everything starts with the yarns. The main component of the yarns is nylon. Nylon waste is a major polluter in the carpet industry. This is why we work with ECONYL® yarns. ECONYL® consists of 100% regenerated Polyamide 6 and is made entirely from nylon waste. You can recycle the yarn over and over again and reuse it in different applications. This reduces the waste mountain and takes us one step closer to a circular economy. In addition, ECONYL® contributes to a smaller ecological footprint.

Compared to ordinary nylon yarns, the CO₂ emissions of ECONYL® are 90% lower.

The regeneration process of ECONYL®

1. Save

We collect waste (fishing nets, dust residues, old carpets, etc.). The materials are cleaned and sorted.

2. Regeneration

After going through a thorough regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is returned to its original state. The nylon now consists of pellets and dispersions.

3. Remake

The ECONYL® regenerated polyamide is then processed into yarns and textiles.

4. Rethink

This new yarn is then used by producers such as Tapibel. We produce new ECONYL®-carpet collections.

Our partner, Aquafil, produces the regenerated nylon 6 we use and delivers durable ECONYL® yarn directly from their factory. We then process the yarn into various wall-to-wall and carpet tile collections. 25% of the yarns we use are ECONYL®.

For the production of 10,000 tons of ECONYL® material:

70,000 barrels of oil are saved
65,100 tons of CO₂ emissions are avoided
